I prefer Gary I mean Green/Blue/whatever-the-hell-you-kids-call-him Oak and Wally (or whatever he's called on this site) since one's Gary Motherfucking Oak, and the other is someone who is awesome in some way that I can't personally describe without sounding fanboy-ish or contrived since Ruby and Sapphire were more interesting to me than Gold and Silver.

Yeah, ??? was interesting, but I just did not care about him in Gold, and Heart Gold did nothing to remedy it.

In any case,Is not confirmed that this character is the Rival anyway.

If he isn't a character of some importance though I'd be very surprised. That Black & White baseball cap signifies a lot.

Now all I can think of is Harvest Moon: Magical Melody what with the concept of the rival being the opposite gender of the protagonist but the design doesn't change because of all the androgyny. Which is sort of bizarre and I kind of hope they don't do that bu it'd be somehow amusing if they did. I certainly wouldn't mind a reverse trap, though.

Anyway, from the screenshot...it kinda more like he/she/whatever has a low ponytail or something - or else some very oddly styled long hair. I mean, you can see the fringe of where the majority of the hair ends at the nape of the neck.

Maybe he's androgynous for a gender-changing option for the rival?

I still wanna go with the notion that he's the "Red" to the player's "Green" and challenges you, the Champion, after you've cleared the Elite Four.

I've always liked Green and Silver. On that, I have to say that I am very appreciative to Nintendo for Silver's new design because back when I played through Crystal I always thought he was a girl(oops).
