Tag Alias: harisen -> paper_fan

Aliasing harisen -> paper_fan.

Reason: OR paper_fan -> harisen. Same thing, different language. I'm not sure which term would trump the other. I'd prefer to alias to harisen myself because it's educational and it has its own wiki already.

A harisen is a specific kind of paper fan though, right? At least that's how it'd be used here. It should definitely be kept as is with the Japanese word, but I can imagine we have other paper fans that aren't of the "thing Kaname hits Sousuke with" variety and would want to tag them too.

Is there a need for a paper_fan tag? Seems like whatever it'd cover would fall under the fan or harisen tags.

DAMN your Vulcan logic! That's right. Paper fan, ceiling fan, etc. The alias occurred to me because I saw some harisen pics tagged as paper_fan. Sounds like a quick cleanup might be a quicker solution; an alias would kind of muck things up.

Thanks to jxh2154's reminder, I'd say yes. You'd probably want to maintain the distinction between paper fans and electric fans. ...and harisen.

There aren't that many paper_fan tags--I'll just go and correct the few that should be tagged as harisen, if there are no objections.

Actually for the most part the fan and electric_fan tags are nearly completely separated. There are 130 images tagged electric_fan, but only 31 of them are tagged fan. Beyond the 31, there are probably very few other images of electric fans mixed into the fan tag. I think everything under the fan tag then is essentially what you'd tag paper_fan, with probably the exception of that leaf fan commonly seen with Shameimaru_Aya.

All set, then. I might check out the wikis to make sure, since this isn't something we can really mitigate with aliases or implications.

EDIT: Nevermind... I'm not setting up a wiki for paper_fan or electric_fan. That would be retarded. Anyway, the harisen pics are cleaned up for now.

Yeah, harisen should be distinct from paper_fan, to keep it from coming up when one searches for images featuring (for example) uchiwa, as seen in post #294346.

I'm going to risk looking stupid for a second, but what exactly is the difference between a harisen and any other paper_fan? The wiki doesn't seem to explain it, and a quick look at the posts failed to enlighten me. What would be an example of a paper_fan that isn't a harisen?

The harisen is that fan made of accordion-folded paper that you see used as a slapstick comedy device in anime.

A paper fan that is not a harisen is visible in post #294346, just to name one example.
