What should be done with vehicle_interior?

Posted under Tags

BUR #9026 has been rejected.

create implication boat_interior -> vehicle_interior
create implication tank_interior -> vehicle_interior
create implication airplane_interior -> vehicle_interior
create implication bus_interior -> vehicle_interior
create implication car_interior -> vehicle_interior

At the moment vehicle_interior isn't implied by any *_interior tags but is used for mainly posts with bus interior, car interior, and train interior.

I can think of three ways to fix this:
  • Imply all relevant *_interior tags to vehicle_interior and use it as an umbrella tag (as above)
  • Garden all the vehicle_interior posts not tagged with their respective *_interior tag and then nuke vehicle_interior
    • Instead of being nuked it could be renamed vehicle_interior -> unusual_vehicle_interior and used for edge cases like post #4342367

Also, I'm not sure if colony_interior and/or ferris_wheel_interior should be added to the above BUR.

I would have also added train_interior to this BUR, but it says it would make up 90% of vehicle interior, so I guess that will need to be done after.

Edit: Removed spacecraft_interior -> vehicle_interior implication based on NWF Renim's suggestion.
Edit: Removed ship_interior -> vehicle_interior implication for the same reason

I'd rather do this. Just because a vehicle interior tag exists doesn't mean we have to make it an umbrella tag. If the tag didn't already exist, would we be asking for this?

We previously got rid of the vehicle tag because it was too broad; it contained too many dissimilar vehicles. Vehicle interior has a similar problem.

I would have also added train_interior to this BUR, but it says it would make up 90% of vehicle interior, so I guess that will need to be done after.

This rule exists because whenever we have an subtag that's 90% the same as an umbrella tag, that usually points to the umbrella tag being redundant.

There are many images where determining if its a bus or a train, a truck or a military vehicle or even train or an airplane. I had the lovely task of clearing out the vehicle tag and that was hard, ending in the creation of the tag unconventional vehicle and several posts having the unspecifiable vehicle simply not be tagged.

I've gardened both spacecraft interior and ship interior and removed them from the BUR based off NWF Renim's suggestion.

The tag could be used with the public indecency tag to find posts with public indecency on public transport, although I'm not sure if that's enough to justify it's existence.

Yeah, but here it's kinda silly because after the other BURs go through, train interior would only make up ~64% of vehicle_interior (unless, maybe, I'm bad at math).

Math

boat_interior = 22
tank_interior = 175
airplane_interior = 209
bus_interior = 293
car_interior = 1500
Total = 2199

train_interior = 3900
3900/(2199+3900) = ~64%

*I realize that there's probably some overlap between the above *_interior tags that I didn't account for, but I also didn't factor in the posts tagged vehicle_interior that aren't tagged with any of the above tags, so maybe those cancel each other out.
