Okay, this is trickier than I thought.

Japanese merch says Kyo Soma.
English manga says Kyo Sohma
English 2001 anime says Kyo Sohma.
English 2019 anime says Kyo Soma.

So we're looking at Kyo in all cases, but do we want to go with Sohma or Soma? I'd be inclined to Sohma, since that's what the fandom seems to prefer.

I'd say Sohma still, but maybe add an alias... as in, the way you put it before should be perfect. Maybe alias both "Soma" and "Souma" just in case?

That really is tricky, though... the fandom does seem more inclined to Sohma, as you mentioned. Pixiv also romanizes it as "Kyo Sohma," "Akito Sohma," etc.

That should be perfect, then. It's weird how the surnames' spelling have been changed so frequently throughout the years, it's probably best to go with what's most popular nowadays
