- Rather than tags for Callie and Marie's squid forms, I'd much prefer to see a more inclusive inkling_(squid_form) and octoling_(octopus_form). Every humanoid Inkling and Octoling can do this, not just Callie and Marie.
inkling_(swim_form) octoling_(swim_form) or just swim_form_(splatoon) could also work as a catch-all term. Since that's what the form was renamed to in Splatoon 3 (since that's when Inklings and Octolings were both available from the beginning). I only did it for Callie and Marie since they were the ones i started with and the form seemed to be a bit more prevalent with those two in the fanart I saw, at least when compared to the other idols.
- callie_(kimono)_(splatoon), marie_(octo_idol_outfit)_(splatoon), marie_(news_anchor)_(splatoon)
- These are just tags for Marie and Callie cosplaying each other's outfits. The appropriate costume/cosplay tags should be used instead.
- callie_(octoling_armor)_(splatoon)
- This is just takozonesu_(cosplay).
I unfortunately learned the existence of/and how the CharacterName_(cosplay) tags were utilized only after I made those. Though it does seem a little bit limited if all it takes account for is just the character being cosplayed, rather than which specific costume that belongs to that character is being cosplayed. Maybe CharacterName_(CostumeName)_(CopyrightName)_(cosplay) could work, though it does seem a bit wordy.
Here are the tags I think should be renamed:
- callie_(agent_1/casual)_(splatoon), marie_(agent_2/casual)_(splatoon)
- These should be (agent_1_casual) and (agent_2_casual). There's no need to throw an unnecessary slash into the tag.
I chose the slash because both people and the original source frequently associate the costumes under either the terms "agent_#" and "casual" fairly equally and I wasn't entirely sure of which one to arbitrarily prioritize / assign more value to. So the slash was chosen as a more space-efficient way of saying "Or" or "Also known as".
- callie_(splatoon_2_one_year_anniversary), marie_(splatoon_2_one_year_anniversary), pearl_(splatoon_2_one_year_anniversary), marina_(splatoon_2_one_year_anniversary)
- These should follow the *_(splatoon_2_1st_anniversary)_(splatoon) format instead.
I was considering that as well when I made them, but wasn't entirely sure on the redundancy of mentioning "Splatoon" twice in the same tag.

I would've agreed if it weren't for the two-tag search-limit for the majority of users and site visitors.
I think the limit encourages the creation of new tags with varying degrees of specificity just so people have better means of navigating around it.
Splatoon + Squid works slightly better for it at the moment, however you'll still get a lot of pieces that are just kid-form inklings with no swim-forms in sight.

Ah, that's right, I forgot the game has a name for this form. In that case, yes; the tags should be inkling_(swim_form) and octoling_(swim_form). That way, they can imply inkling and octoling.

That's understandable, but what's more desirable on Danbooru is consistency. Doing this opens the doors to users arbitrarily start deciding when skin tags do or don't need a qualifier, which we don't want.

What are you talking about 'erroneously taken the name' and 'overriding the residue alias'? Utsuho (Splatoon) has never been a tag before, and in turn, never been used for an alias before. "Somebody really should've noticed this earlier"? I could say the same about your behavior, but people have already noticed and I vocalized it back in forum #356887 in May.

1) I've noticed the non-existent alias leading up mizuho_(splatoon), which is why I made this BUR in the first place.

Still no clue what you mean by "residue alias" and "erroneously taking the name". Maybe I don't know enough about Splatoon to follow, but I kind of doubt it. If you're proposing a utility alias for the Japanese name of the character, just say that. You're making this harder to follow than necessary.
