Cataloguing Limbus/Project moon E.G.O and Identities

Ok but why?

A lot of this thread's rejections feel like the "Is there somebody you forgot to ask?" meme, where there is unanimous approval among people who actually search the tag/know the series but someone higher up says no.

As someone who has never played the game and knows nothing about it, it's very difficult to judge the necessity of these implications given that none of the wikis explain what the tags are for or what they look like. They just say "E.G.O for character X" where an E.G.O is apparently any weapon, outfit, item, or even location from the game. So it could be virtually anything. What is this tag even good for?

Browsing the posts is no help because I have to guess at what minor detail they have in common and that doesn't even work because apparently these things can take all kinds of different forms.

This is why implications have a wiki requirement. So we can tell what the tags are actually about. Writing barebones wikis just to bypass the requirement doesn't help.

BUR #47788 has been rejected.

deprecate e.g.o_(project_moon)
mass update *_(e.g.o) -> -e.g.o_(project_moon)

This is just a parent tag for many different outfits/weapons from Project Moon that have little to no visual similarities. It's like if we had sygna_suit_(pokemon) for all the Sygna Suit skins in Masters, except it's worse because it's also for random weapons and items.

Any fanmade E.G.Os should be moved to something like fan_e.g.o_(project_moon), and any E.G.Os without names should be moved to their own tags.

I've been told the locations referenced in the wiki aren't actually E.G.Os, they just appear in relation to some E.G.Os during certain super attacks and story moments. As such, I removed the mention of locations.

I don't really like the idea, but ok.

How do we call E.G.Os that manifest from characters and that don't have a name? For example, Xiao's armour

My proposal is Character Name's effloresced e.g.o (e.g.o)
Alternatively "Character Name's e.g.o", but it's more vague.

Character's e.g.o sounds fine to me. There's "Dongbaek E.G.O::Spicebush" to complicate things and it avoids having to make judgement calls on things like Ezra's E.G.O.

This should also happen regardless of any change to the E.G.O tag because you can't really look for the Red Mist's E.G.O because even after you use two character tags she's carrying mimicry (e.g.o) around anyway so most of the search is just that.

I was contacted by another user familiar with E.G.Os over Discord, and what they told me I'll copy wholesale here:

extra notes
1) limbus introduced E.G.O gifts that don't match the general E.G.O name for that abnormality. for example the abnormality below has type 2 E.G.O named "cavernous wailing", but its E.G.O gifts are Melted Eyeball and Venomous Skin. in lobcorp they're always the same
https://limbuscompany.wiki.gg/wiki/Blubbering_Toad
2) type 2 E.G.O can match visually between users on rare occassions (this specifically happens for Walpurgisnacht event E.G.O, for example In The Name of Love and Hate)
https://limbuscompany.wiki.gg/images/8/88/Corrosion_In_the_Name_of_Love_and_Hate_Don_Quixote_Idle_Sprite.png?29119b=&format=original
https://libraryofruina.wiki.gg/images/2/22/In_the_Name_of_Love_and_Hate_Realization_Sprite.png?89458f=&format=original
3) type 3 E.G.O can have multiple users, but they're always in separate alternate timelines. for example Effloresced E.G.O Spicebush is used by Dongbaek in the "main" timeline, but there's an identity/alt timeline ver. of Yi Sang using it as well (Dongbaek E.G.O and Effloresced E.G.O is the same thing, it's like this for her specifically as a pun as her name relates to flowers)
https://limbuscompany.wiki.gg/wiki/Dongbaek/Enemy/Dongbaek_E.G.O::Spicebush
https://limbuscompany.wiki.gg/wiki/Effloresced_E.G.O::Spicebush_Yi_Sang
4) type 1 and 2 E.G.O can rarely look the exact same. afaik the only example rn is Queen of Hatred's E.G.O "In the Name of Love and Hate"
https://limbuscompany.wiki.gg/wiki/In_the_Name_of_Love_and_Hate_Don_Quixote
https://lobotomycorp.fandom.com/wiki/The_Queen_of_Hatred#E.G.O._Equipment

for what its worth, e.g.o tag implications make a little more sense for lobcorp, given a good chunk of the suits is just recolors of one another (random tier list from google images, tiers arent relevant here, i just wanted a pic with all lobcorp e.g.o suits)

I suggest you to upload the pic on Danbooru and link the asset in your post, otherwise the discord link is gonna expire.

As much as I understand your concern, I am not going to do that. As long as there is no option to remove assets from one's My Uploads page, I will personally not be engaging in the practice of adding assets to the website for the purposes of adding stuff for wikis and similar, such as in this case. Even if the Discord link expires, the source image hasn't been deleted from Discord's servers, so sharing the link in a Discord server should refresh the image, making it still accessible.

LobCorp EGO gifts aren't necessarily named the same in the first place. The Snow Queen's EGO is Frost Splinter, but the EGO Gift is Those who know the Cruelty of Winter and the Aroma of Roses.
