Search artists by URL?

The following sequence of events has occurred more than a few times for me:

1. Find a new Pixiv page
2. Search Danbooru artists for their name, forgetting that a) Pixiv names are often shortened, and b) I'm really bad at reading name kanji
3. Upload a whole bunch of pictures
4. Find out by uploading a duplicate that the artist already exists under a different name
5. Change tags for the uploaded pictures while weeping and gnashing teeth

It seems like the easiest way around this would be to allow searching for artist URLs, but putting URLs in the current search box yields nothing useful. Any suggestions?

Use 'source:xxx' where xxx is the URL, appropriately cut back so as to get all images rather than one, of course.

URL normalization makes this non-trivial, because you have to guess the normalized URL and search for that.

For instance, this finds nothing:

source:http://img11.pixiv.net/img/una_k/

But this does find pics:

source:http://*.pixiv.net/img/una_k/

Even though the URL of the first pic found is http://img11.pixiv.net/img/una_k/745743.jpg

I suppose a source query should also normalize its argument to make this work.

Ok, *that* is something I was wondering about. Find Artist and source: searches often seemed to fail for me on pixiv artists.

But I was especially confused because the danbooruup extension has a much higher success rate of bringing those up. And, really, artists in general, pixiv or not.

Can any elements of its artist lookup code be integrated into danbooru's? I have a feeling someone will reply "they're the same!" but I'm really not hallucinating when I see danbooruup bring up the right artist significantly more often.
