A tankini top is tighter fitting. Besides, just because tankinis are fashioned after tank tops doesn't mean that they are tank tops; they're two different sets of clothing in the public consciousness. Tankinis are also a legit bikini set, which is why bikini_bottom, a tag for mismatched tops and bottoms or toplessness, isn't used.
Really, these implications are another case of taking the wiki too literally.
