Missing implications, I often see myself missing the main tag when I use the color_* in my uploads, just to someone add it later. I've made some provisory wikis for the tags that lacked it and removed the tags that had less than 10 posts from the BUR, because the implication can't be done in these cases.
I'm anticipating that someone will claim these implications can't be approved because there were some inevitable mistags in my mass updates BUR that still have to be gardened, but since admins can approve expired BURs, at least it's already done by now and it can stay here as long as it needs.
Edit: All the wikis have already been fixed now by someone else.

This is what really annoys me about these umbrella tags. They were done to reduce granularity but what ended up happening is that people just add the color tag but not the actual item's tag. Just look at the mess that is black_footwear -boots -shoes.

By the way, are broader legwear tags that aren't really colors supposed to be divided into separate kinds? I slooowly started to garden fishnet legwear into separate tags since they were unaliased from the main legwear tags as well, but looking at the thread I'm getting sort of confused whether or not it's supposed to be done.
Similar thing with other non-color properties like ribbing, frills, etc.

I still say those are properties that people may want to search for themselves specifically regardless of the legwear they're attached, so trying to nuke and deprecate those tags shouldn't be done. I don't care if you want to make subtags for the specific legwear, but for those a parent tag should still exist.

Submit BURs for them. Nothing has been done because nobody has submitted BURs for splitting anything besides the color tags.

We already have umbrella tags for things like frills and fishnets. Why do we need e.g. frilled legwear as an umbrella tag for frilled thighhighs+frilled socks when we don't have umbrella tags for things like frilled skirt+frilled dress or frilled bra+frilled panties or frilled ribbon+frilled bow?
Things like stirrup legwear and toeless legwear make more sense because those are at least unique to legwear. But for generic things like striped, torn, print, polka dot, etc, I don't see the point.

As I stated before, especially with fishnets tag, such tags serve as valuable middle tier tags that can assist in searches, especially with minus searches. As I pointed out, fishnet legwear alone accounts for at least 2/3rds of the fishnets tags. Searching for non-legwear fishnets after purging this middle-tier tag would make it that much harder to find non-legwear fishnet garments without having to add several other minus tags.
The fact that we don't do this kind of stuff with other tags isn't a proper justification for not doing it, and if anything should raise the question on why haven't we been using them instead with more massive tags. The complaint that some tags are so massive that they effectively are useless and that these specific subtags more or less become useless in helping to sort the larger tag should suggest that we should have been considering having these mid-tier tags to help better sort the parent tag to begin with.
How should tagging work if you can't tell what type of legwear it is now? Like a skirt or object covering the thigh area so you cant tell thighhighs or pantyhose. I used to be able to just tag the legwear color for indicating its presence, but now I have to choose a type even if I can't actually tell. Should I just assume pantyhose in those cases?

Pantyhose should be tagged unless you can reasonable tell otherwise what it is, like a tabi is usually only socks.
