Average Moderation Length?

Posted under General

Depends on the pic, the faster it finds a moderator who likes it, the faster it gets approved by that moderator.

If it's not approved yet, that means none of the moderators who looked at it thought it worth approving.

I'm actually curious about this too. I mod whenever I can, though I'm very short on time lately. I still probably look at at least 100 pics a say though, if not many more. I'm curious as to which other mods check the list regularly, and how often.

As for your specific pics, well, the explicit loli & big dick hentai is probably a tough sell. Ditto on, er, pregnant Samus.

For moderation in general, does messing up the tags decrease chances of approval? I got frustrated by the post ID not found thing and mistagged several images with rampant copy/pasting when I finally realized what was going on.

Varies from mod to mod, I'd guess.

I just approve images I like, regardless of tags, and maybe correct/improve the tags while I do so. Other moderators may frown on poor/inaccurate/lazy tagging.

I don't check the moderation queue every day, but when I do, I check all of it. I also look at the stuff flagged for deletion. If you see posts that shouldn't be on danbooru, flag them. Be sure of what you're doing, though.

If I see a good picture that's poorly tagged, I'll still approve it; however, one my attention is caught, I'll warn the user, either with a comment or with a mail; repeat offenders can get negative reports.

I'm pretty sure some of the mods said somewhere that they approve stuff they acknowledge is good, but don't actually care for.

As for the approved yaoi and what not (I haven't seen any guro on danbooru; don't go through the trouble of linking me), any of it uploaded by a privileged user wouldn't go through the approval system. Also, there's some that may exist from before that system... ?

It's still entirely possible one of the mods <3s the boys love. I'm not gonna argue with the rules, but I'm happy to see it. >.>

Indeed, as Lichifruit says, anything posted by privileged users goes through without mod checking. That's because users are supposed to be invited after they're proven to be good and trustworthy contributors. Note, however, that if someone exploits this trust to post forbidden content, however, he can still get a bad report, and ultimately a demotion.

I'm not a mod, but looking through your posts I don't really see many that shouldn't be approved and I'm kind of surprised they've taken this long.

Yet prohibited uploads get through just fine? I'm referring to all the guro and yaoi which it claims on the upload page isn't allowed.

Yaoi is allowed but discouraged; only the good stuff should be uploaded and even it should definitely not be flooded. (I have a quote from albert to back that up if you like.) People who don't like it can blacklist it, as long as it doesn't have a huge flood of 500 mostly crappy posts in 2 days like that one time I don't think anyone actually cares that much.

I'm fine with whatever being uploaded since I realize there's the blacklist system in place to hide whatever content I may not want to see, I also don't doubt that it may be allowed if it's not low quality. I was just thinking it seems a little contradictory to approve content that, according to the rules stated on the upload page, isn't allowed while stuff that you may or may not like that's not of bad quality just sits in the queue until it gets auto-deleted. I assume it does anyways since I had decided to search the forums on this subject beforehand and read a thread that had suggested the idea of auto deleting after it sits in the queue for too long and had read someone's profile that had said one of their deleted posts had been deleted for being in the queue for more than 3 days.

And where do you see much if any guro or yaoi getting uploaded? Recent pics, don't point to something 6 months older or more. I don't approve any guro, and never have.

Though yaoi isn't *actually* banned to my knowledge, albert just hasn't updated that page. It's more a spirit of the rule thing... don't flood it, a pic here or there won't be the end of the world even if it's not really what people are looking for.

It's already been stated that it's not banned. The point of bringing it up is why discriminate against one fetish when what you like may be just as odd to someone else? I've just been uploading random images to try to contribute and if it's not going to be approved then there's really no reason to waste my time uploading.

That's why we have over a dozen mods, all of which are equally capable of approving any or all of your pics if they choose to. And it's not exactly like I deleted them. I've approved plenty of stuff I don't really like much myself before.

Not approving seems to result in a deletion anyways. I see no reason to upload anything if it's just going to be passed over and then end up auto-deleted after an amount of time.

This is the whole point of the moderation queue, to teach users what should and shouldn't be uploaded. You are right, there is no sense in uploading stuff that won't get approved.

Looking at your posts though, it seems most of it should be decent enough to get approved at some point unless all the mods have something against explicit loli. I'd be much more surprised if pregnant Samus passed muster though. I'm also not so sure about the MP3 player hentai, though it does qualify as a 'what'.

Correction: Every single mod and admin that sees your post in a three day timespan and intentionally choosing not to approve it results in deletion.

Big difference.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible for a single mod to arbitrarily delete a post awaiting approval, or does it only get deleted when it hasn't been approved after 3 days? (I would already assume admins would probably have the right to delete things, but what about regular privileged users?)

If privileged users could delete pics...that would make us de facto mods, would it not? And that's not what we are.
