Post have 19 favs and consistent with the artists other works, also this artist have approved posts with same character (Explicit post #2889805 post #2889806).

Breasts dont actually start that high on the torso, her armpit is malformed/missing and she has a bent spine which is something many approvers are allergic to. Note that the examples you provided havent actually been approved as they where uploaded by a builder with unrestricted uploading privileges. Approvers are told to ignore fav count.

1st one: Nothing really wrong with it. Big breasted Tenshi is nothing new though so I imagine most approvers simply found it "meh" and moved on.
2nd one: Those breasts have moved into grotesque size and those nipples look like some kind of orifices.

This is yet an other "meh" image with lots of nitpicky problems which together form an inferior whole. Her face is basicly only eyes with no nose and a thin line for a mouth. Her stomach is considerably longer than her chest. Her neck seems like an afterthought to connect her head with her shoulders. Her bangs seems to be separate from the rest of her hair. I think some found the sharp shading of putting as well.

Yeah. This looks good to me. Not the best hands and feet. Left girl has a slightly awkward pose. But I would have approved this.

I just wanted to check on some old unapproved posts. Could be the pics being overly censored, could also be improper citation, but I'd like feedback if possible.

1: Nothing exceptionally wrong with it. But also nothing really recommending it. Satsukis legs seems to be attached to the sides of her hips rather than growing downwards. Her spine is uncomfortably bent. Both girls seem to be lacking ribcages. And their necks are kinda long. Lines are uneven and shading and lighting is quite basic.

2: Same problems with lighting and lines. Satsuki now has an even longer neck and her eyes seems to have wandered up a few inches. Ive said it before: Explicit images are less likely to get approved. There are even fewer approvers that like futanari/newhalf. Also that censoring is quite jagged.

3:Better than the last two certainly. The girls have twisted their bottoms in a rather uncomfortable way in order to show us their asses. Got two wonky feet. The excessive and rough censoring doesnt help and explicit newhalf porn isnt very popular among the approvers. Still I recon this could have been approved on a slow day.

But just to clarify a point for myself for the future, I thought the TOS allowed for

a) Anime-styled art of Western characters, and

2) Western-styled art of anime characters, but not

iii) Western-styled art of Western characters.

Am I reading that correctly?

Not really.
Western copyrights (I'd exclude original characters and stuff that gets towards "fine art" but that's just personal) are still allowed but the have to meet a higher quality threshold. Whatever that might be: I have no idea and some Approvers reject western stuff completely for themselves.
In other words, Western art is uploadable but be prepared that it will get deleted.

It doesn't really matter what the copyright is. If the picture looks too much like a western-style drawing, which is the case here, then it will end up getting deleted because most approvers reject anything with a western style.
It doesn't help that the uncanny valley effect makes it look like a pic of a real person with a layer of paint.

Fair enough. I'll bear that in mind if I have any more commissions in future that I feel may be uploadable here. :)

"Uncanny valley"? I guess that's very much a subjective thing, but I suppose it would be - I was commissioning that piece to be in a near-realism style anyway. :)

Not yet deleted but "anatomy check" is such an infuriatingly vague reason. And i've seen it way too many times.

Best i can tell, the stomach is a bit too low, like it's bent at a 90^ angle.
I've seen real people sit like that before so, i didn't even have noticed that it was a bit off.

Edit: maybe the head's a bit tall too?

Yes, people can kind of sit like that, but then her back would have to be rounded outward, which it is not. On the left, her waist looks bent at a 90° angle, on the right it looks straight. It’s possible, though uncomfortable, to bend only the lumbar spine and keep the upper body straight, but at least her lumbar spine would have to look bent. I think the artist tried too hard to incorporate wide hips into that pose.

Her right knee joint (the one with the single thighhigh) also looks weird.

Edit: maybe the head's a bit tall too?

It’s not too bad and still within limits for an anime-style drawing. It merely adds a bit to the overall mediocre look of this image.

Hand and feet are also kind of meh. Not a problem by itself, but also adding to the mediocre look in this case.

Yet, 2 different people came up with pretty different reasons for why this could have been written :D.
With how literally subjective art is, there should always be more descriptive reasons for deletion than just that, i feel.

And about the last part

Not a problem by itself, but also adding to the mediocre look in this case.

I can't fathom deleting posts just for being mediocre, that's like 1/2 of the site according to averages :)
But that's also because, i thought this image was in fact, pretty good, not just mediocre but a solid 7.18/10.

I guess you mean the second quartile of Danbooru’s content? That’s true by definition.

However, the goal is to have “high quality art” on Danbooru, which means that uploaded art should be significantly above the mean of all available art. If I call a post “mediocre”, I mean that it’s mediocre based on available art, which makes it sub-par for Danbooru’s standards for me.

Not anime-styled and not of a Japanese copyright. We do have a bunch of random scenery images, but those are either uploaded by unlimited uploaders or must be darn good.

I'll admit straight up - this painting is A1 in size (59.4cm x 84.1cm) in two halves, and I don't have a scanner big enough to handle that, so I had to photograph it instead.

I doubt it’d be approved even if it was stitched. Danbooru is probably not the right place for such art.
