I have been always been very obsessed with manga art being drawn right or otherwise the emotions won't draw over to me.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Patchouli really, really wanted to be friends with her. Patchouli seems lonely in this comic, and if Remi's (lack of) consideration for Patchy's feelings before dismissing Koa are any indication, I'd say that Patchy and Remi aren't incredibly close here. Patchy endured Koa's torment in hopes that she might become nicer in the future, and now that it's finally happening, Koa was snatched away from her.

I don't think Koa meant any real harm in taking the book, just wanting to give Patchouli a good scare and then she'd give it back, and I think Patchouli believes the same more or less. Either way she seems to have forgiven Koa for it, so I don't think what Remi did was right. At least not without consulting Patchouli first.
