Aw yiss! You hardly ever see women in heavy armor like this. Too much warrior princess crap going around, not enough female GAR in my opinion!

Boob plates too. Those would cause a broken sternum.

Nah, they don't look that bad. It looks more like a breastplate that follows the general vertical contour of her chest. Now, I'm not an armor expert, but I am a med student and have worn a similar item, actually. I can attest that taking a sword across the chest while wearing something like that won't break the sternum of a healthy 20 something y/o woman. If it was the more classic "this armor somehow cups each breast and we thought that was a good idea", then yes, the weakness given where the armor meats at the very least is asking for impalement. Besides, most celestials have a DR of 5/evil. Less she's just an Aasimar, then she should at least be wearing a helmet. Not wearing all of your armor gives a penalty to AC.

TL;DR: "nu uh, I smrt, and I geek."

The whole problem with boob plates is that you don't want a convex shape directing the blows' strength to the mid of your chest. Effective armor needs to deflect strikes away from your vitals.

Saber's armored dress has a whole other host of problems, but her usual breastplate shows the right idea.

Yeah, I wasn't saying in this particular picture, but other ones would certainly cause problems.

What I'm getting out of this is that female plate armor shouldn't have cleavage - instead, the breastplate should be a uniboob, perhaps protruding even more in the middle than over the breasts themselves. Do I have the gist?

If so, this particular armor not only has the cleavage flaw, but there seems to be a seam between the breasts - a sufficiently powerful sword or lance strike would tend to be deflected into the cleavage seam and split it at the weld. By contrast, a uniboob design would tend to deflect the blow away from the body, like a cowcatcher on a train.

I'm no expert on the matter, but here's what I've read. Generally speaking, in real life plate armor made for a man and plate armor made for a woman wouldn't look much different. Metal on skin is uncomfortable, so underneath the platemail the wearer will have padding like a gambeson or some other garment. Once you factor that in, as well as the need for the armor to be a certain shape to deflect blows, the wearer's form is largely irrelevant to the shape of the armor.

That said, armor would have to be fitted differently since men and women tend to have different shoulder-to-hip ratios.

Here's one with some sort of deflector to protect the chest area: post #1672233

    >All those chinks
    >Lance/piercing blows trapped everywhere
    1/5 would not wear.
