Quite the victory they're celebrating. Losing something like 1/3rd their fighting force, while achieving their great objectives of shelling around 1000 schools, 400 medical centers, blowing up shopping malls with hypersonic missiles, leveling grain storage sites with bombs, stealing hundreds of thousands of tons of grain and shipping it to Syria, blockading the seas denying millions of tons of grain to reach the world market helping create a world wide food shortage. They attacked Finland in '39, starting the "Winter War", which killed hundreds of thousands on both sides. It's funny to think the bloodiest part of the early stages of WWII didn't even involve Britain, France, and Germany.

Let's see...their "Darkest Hour" where German air raids killed something like 80,000 people over a span of a year. Does that really sound at all bad in comparison to the atrocities committed by allied bombings? Dec 4th isn't a national holiday in the United States, per say, but it's usually mentioned annually both by the government and other media sources. I'll give you that going toe to toe with the IJN was pretty awesome, and even in the later stages of the war, you have to hand it to the USN that even with everything snowballing their way, they didn't start acting like asshats drunk on power. I assume he's talking about discussions that happen on posts without a relevant associated tag, if an argument about the russo-ukrainian war starts on a post that isn't actually about the war, then blacklisting that tag wouldn't stop you from seeing that particular argument.
