The first, well, "translation" doesn't seem quite correct to me - Snoopy often imagined himself as a "World War I Flying Ace" and talked about himself in third person, so that's an obvious reference. Translator must've read that I as a personal pronoun instead of the number one. Hell, with that in mind, that line makes perfect sense without "translation".
