But yes, it should be. Though this is how they're portraying her during that scene in Other M (still haven't gotten it yet). Let's just pretend her suit reverted due to the heavy damage she sustained... it's happened enough times already, why not once more, for ol' time's sake.

On that note, does she have a personality now? She may as well have been a robot the whole time given the total lack of significant character development in any game I've played.

She's become a stereotypical moeblob that has completely aped the characterization she's had(No, she was NOT a robot. lrn2 body language) up to that point.

Anyay, I think it's fair to say that just because Samus never said anything, doesn't mean that she was a robot. It doesn't even mean she was a blank slate. It is possible to characterize through action, without relying on speech or even facial expression. Wander never said anything in Shadow of the Colossus, but through the course of that game you get a pretty good sense of his badassery and single-minded obsession. And I think that through the course of the Metroid series, we should all be able to agree that, even though she never said anything, Samus probably isn't a submissive whiny bitch who needs a man behind her to be able to do anything.
I'm just glad that it's not just another Zero Suit picture. Seriously, I can't be the only person who's sick of seeing a wall of blue whenever they see a collection of Metroid fanart.
I won't get into it any farther than that because I'm likely to go on a fanboy rant if I keep thinking about all the Zamus porn that exists now. It just doesn't make me feel good.

Blame Nintendo of America for that as they focused more on gameplay than story/personality with Metroid up until Fusion. The other M was a crude attempt at catching western audiences on what the japanese players knew all this time.
Strictly speaking, yes. However, I prefer to think of this as an artistic choice, seeing how the Varia Suit's colours are represented in every Metroid game (and also SSB), whereas the Gravity Suit only appears in four games (Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Zero Mission and Other M).
