    "Entrust the Future"

The continent was divided into two countries to the east and west. The countries had friendly relations, and enjoyed peace and prosperity.
The youngest child of a noble family in the eastern country and the princess of the western country had been childhood friends, and since they were promised to one another in marriage they became symbols of peace between the countries.
Time passed, and the boy became the leader of knights of the eastern country. Meanwhile, the girl inherited the crown and became queen. At that time, the two countries became embroiled in a dispute surrounding territory and economic resources. With each day the relationship between the countries deteriorated, and before long war broke out.
The war continued for so long no one could see an end to it. The western country, which had been falling behind in national power for a long time, grew unable to bear the quagmire of the war, and was defeated in battle after battle, so that even the throne came under attack.
With no time to be moved by the reunion they had awaited for so many years, the two who had been promised to each other crossed swords. But when he was about to seal his victory, the hand that gripped the man's sword dropped.

Ah...such a fine artwork as well as a sad tale.

I really like his art with back stories & their "behind the scenes" stage stuff.

Of course, killing the ruler of the enemy country was not typically done historically, if it could be avoided, because real wars are not video games were you win if you kill the final boss. Barring personal vendettas, enemy rulers were usually captured and often treated with a lot of respect, since they could be ransomed for a ton of money. Plus, at some point you'd want someone to sign a treaty to make your victory legit. So over-all, keeping the queen alive makes a lot more sense than killing her, especially since they were old friends and it probably wasn't personal in the first place.

Not to mention, judging from the ring and the rose, he still loved her.
