These rejection messages are ridiculous and get even personal. Approvers should NOT act like children.
Are they disproportionate to the content of the post, though? You can make a pretty educated guess when topicality rules left blurry for a good reason are being pushed beyond their absolute tipping point just to farm reactions like those. I'm the "bad faith", 1 out of the I guess 2 messages that might've come off as personal, and it's not until this comment that I even paid attention to the uploader of this one, all I saw was a purple name that should definitely know better than to think a social media selfie would be well-received by any niche part of the site's userbase whatsoever.

It should NEVER happen. We are not clowns in a circus.

Maybe some people should stop treating the mod queue like a circus, then? You can't expect people to be infinitely patient and polite when some other people are intentionally abusing the system. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, as they say.
only a post like this could ever have such an imaginary number of checks like 33 Most posts receive more than what they say, it's just sometimes people don't click the buttons.
The hell happened here? The mods are super butthurt towards this person.
Occasionally the uploader decides to upload something that anyone else with their privileges would know better than to upload, never (that I've seen) sending anything through the mod queue, either. I imagine some individuals have gotten tired of it, especially when it results in the mod queue being treated like a joke.
I do think sometimes their posts get unfairly judged more harshly than if they had been uploaded by someone else, but it's not exactly surprising when you make this kind of reputation for yourself. Especially when the uploader likes to show it off.

No? If it's bad enough to warrant action, that's up to moderators to do, not up to approvers (especially when all they can do is childishly insult the uploader).
Unres uploads mediocre to bad posts that wouldn't pass the queue normally all day: I sleep Unres with otherwise fine uploads something borderline every now and then: kill this user NOW

Huh. I'm gonna try to be as nice as possible when saying this. That sounds like some real Reddit/Discord mod level of behavior. I'm not meaning that towards you.
Are we even looking at the same page? You're making ONE very mildly personal rejection message sound like the whole approver team ganging up on a single user to throw rotten tomatoes at every time they click Upload. The off-topic claims aren't invalid just because you disagree with them, and all the rest seems to be inside jokes not disparaging of anyone. I agree we should strive to treat the modqueue with a degree of professionalism, but you can't expect people not to get annoyed with stuff like this clogging it, especially courtesy of unres users. I remember these not because I'm staking anyone out with a vengeance, I remember them because they flooded the front page AND modqueue, at the same time, when they were posted. Which was again probably by design.
Could you look me in the eye and say you truly, honestly believe these uploads were motivated by nothing but a genuine enjoyment and desire of archival of the images?
The epic hater screenshot collections here aren't helping anyone's case.

You realize that same mentality applies to the disapproval messages you're complaining about, right? It's not up to you to police other Approvers' disapproval messages, let the Mods handle that. If it's a problem, the Moderators would have already said something to the related parties in private. If it's still happening, then I guess the Moderators don't think it's that big of a deal?
This is something that's starting to rub me the wrong way about this situation. The double standard coming from some of the people involved. Approvers should behave like customer service employees (reminder that no one here is getting paid), with the utmost professionalism and respect, but an uploader (who is a Contributor and should know better) repeatedly testing people's patience with shitlikethis is perfectly acceptable? The same people complaining about some of the most mild disapproval messages ever had no problem annoying other Approvers and encouraging "unprofessional" behavior by repeatedly approving/appealing this stupid fish that we all knew didn't deserve to be on the site. If a Member had uploaded that, it would've been deleted without mercy and no one would have even given it a second glance.
You don't respect the time and patience of random people on the internet doing free work for this site but you demand they act professional? You make a mockery of the approval process but expect the other Approvers to treat the process like customer service? At what point do we say, "Yeah, Approvers could stand to be a little more polite sometimes, but a Contributor like HyphenSam should also stop abusing their status to upload shit."?
Yes, sometimes disapproval messages say more than they need to, and can be downright rude for no good reason. This is not one of those situations. An uploader farming reactions is fine, but that one guy that said, "Typical Sam behavior"? That guy's clearly Satan
I say "haters can stay mad" as a half-joke, but I do clearly have a certain amount of people who clearly don't like me.

These were months ago. I've toned down on uploading those posts before I got a DM from an admin to tone down the shitposting. Look at my post count for the last 5 months. Post count for user:HyphenSam age:<5months: 2029. Post count for user:HyphenSam age:<5months status:deleted : 3. People have much worse deletion rates than this clogging up the queue, but the spotlight is on me.
Then look at this flag and tell me it isn't a targeted flag aimed at me.

You forget you're on an archiving site and these rejection messages get deleted after a couple of months. That's the main reason why I screenshot and save them.

I did agree there's obviously some unfair judgement being thrown your way. If I look through your flagged approved uploads, there are definitely plenty of examples of "low quality" flags where my immediate response is, "What the fuck are you talking about?"
I could honestly say a lot more on this topic that doesn't really pertain to you in particular, but I don't think there's much point in it.

An archiving site for art. We archive art. I'm not really interested in debating the merits of the site archiving every single disapproval message a post gets. It just looks contentious when you make comments like these.

That's flag vandalism and has been dealt with accordingly. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the person responsible wasn't any of the approvers being called out here, so unless an admin comes in and proves me wrong, I fail to see the relevance.
People have much worse deletion rates than this clogging up the queue, but the spotlight is on me
Simple - when you slog through pages of mediocre porn in the modqueue, you know at least it wasn’t uploaded for the sole purpose of stirring controversy and harvesting every last drop of negative attention they can wring out of rightfully exasperated approvers, random bystanders stumbling upon some shit they would never have expected to see on here, what have you. Bad actors will inevitably annoy people more than poorly drawn blue archive tits.

I'm not forgetting anything. An image archival site, not a meta shitposting preservation one. There's a reason they get deleted unlike the rest of a post's history. Why do you feel those were worth saving and reposting like a badge of honor?
This is still going on? Good lord, settle it between private messages or talk about with the moderation staff on this site other than this deleted picture. Because this is just sad at this point.
The topic is the unnecessary amount of hate I'm getting from drama that happened months ago, which doesn't involve only approvers.

I find the messages funny and I want to save them. I don't need any other reason.
I'm going to stop replying because like stuffman said, this is getting silly. Just move on.
The topic was the rejection messages on this post being part of the hate you say you're being subjected to. They're not, they're exactly what you'd expect from a picture like this uploaded by an unres, and a single snarky comment, while uncalled for, can hardly be called targeted harassment unless you can prove that one approver has been unfair towards you in other ways, that's all I was ever saying. But I understand it was instigated by people getting outraged on your behalf for whatever reason, not yourself.
I'm gonna be honest here. I dont know this HyphenSam person and if they are bad or not. If this is emblematic of the behavior that quite a lot of the approvers/staff act like. Since judging by the various approvers saying vairous things towards HyphenSam in the deletion message. And the behavior in this comment section. I can see as to why people along with some moderators on Gelbooru along with rule34 make fun of this place when they aren't having a pissing match between one another. Since this has to be some of the most Reddit mod level behavior i have seen outside of Reddit, Discord or X. There's a point when something dumb stops being funny and it just gets really sad.

What does that even mean? If you think the mods do something then I see nothing in the feedback page. In other words, because nothing ever happens, people act like they can get away with everything with these shitty flags and rejection messages.

Presumably it means whoever made that flag got DM'd by a mod. Not everything has to result in a record. If they never do it again, then the issue has been resolved. Flag vandalism goes without an associated record all the time, because it's not needed if a DM is enough to get the point across.
Frankly, I find it rather obnoxious that the person actually affected by all this was willing to laugh it off and take it in stride, while two other people are rioting in the streets on their behalf, instead of just leaving these problems for the mods to resolve if it's needed. If the mods really thought any of the barely negative messages on this particular post deserved action, they almost certainly have already DM'd everyone they needed to.

Wrong. It gives off a fatal impression. It's jjust a problem and it affects appeals, rejection messages and flags all the same. I just wish we could act like adults here instead of throwing cheese at each other.

Just because the person they were aimed at wasn't butthurt doesn't mean the messages were acceptable. It's totally justified that approvers voice their opinions on the shit behavior of other approvers. If the ones involved have been DM'd, that's great, but because that's private we're just left guessing, especially when the behavior is still seemingly continuing.

If you're going to crusade, make it about some actually insulting messages, not a bunch of injokes.
And you're part of the problem, to begin with. post #7816260 was apparently your idea, and you were one of the approvers that decided the others needed to see post #7412460 in the queue repeatedly for a month. Things like that probably have something to do with Sam now having a reputation for shitposting, and you encouraged both of them.
I'll reiterate a point I made earlier. If you're going to treat the mod queue like a joke, don't get mad when everyone else does the same.

Making jokes is ok, but if something spirals out of control I don't care what caused this jokes. It's annoying and should be called out. Certain things overstay their welcome.

Please tell me more about your tribulations going through the modqueue.
Also not sure why you brought up post #7816260, that was appealed for a very specific reason described in the message.

"Bad faith" might be fair but "Typical sam behavior" is definetly far too personal and some messages (egg, etc) are just spam.

If only NNT would practice what he preached then. I agree with what he says here but it falls pretty flat seeing this in a discord message when "talking shit about other users" is 25% of what goes on in the server (with the people doing it not only including approvers but sometimes nonamethanks himself) and the mods apperently had disagreements on wheter or not to do anything about it. I don't know the context about this message but the site itself is atleast the more "professional" side while the server is where it's acceptable to be cunt 24/7 and call others retards for making mistakes so it definetly dosen't fit in feedback messages.
edit: "practice what he preached" refers to mods on the server not really punishing being an asshole, not to single out nnt specifically.
"messages" (plural) "approvers" (plural) "out of control" "throwing cheese"
You're deliberately ignoring everything that's been pointed out so far in favor of some mass persecution narrative you're clinging to in your head.
The "adult" way to resolve this situation would be DMing a mod or admin instead of stirring the pot for all to see and form further biases towards OP. That way, you might even get some return feedback on whether the snarky approver was a repeat offender and what, if anything, has been done about the infraction, because unless their record was bad enough to warrant a ban or demotion, staff rightfully isn't going to air this out on a public forum. But you didn't choose that route, so here we are. The guy you're so outraged by probably isn't even reading this right now for all we know.

The correct way is for mods to finally put an end to that charade of users writing a) destructive dlags, b) destructive appeals and c) destructive rejection messages.
