Okuu seems to preform mystical tasks better under pressure so she'll manage step two much faster now that the alternative is burning Koishi into a crisp.

What doesn't she wanna do? There's no implication of agency ("I'm gonna burn Lady Koishi up") in the previous line in that panel in either English or Japanese, not even from context, and "I don't wanna!" isn't something people say unless it's clear from context what the relevant action is.

I know. I was kind of expecting (and hoping) her to look all grown up and majestic with her hair grown out. And at the very least, have her control rod and cape. Not that I dislike loli Okuu or anything, but it would have been nice if a more drastic change occurred than just adding Yata onto her chest.

What a a let down. Was expecting some maniacal, "I AM BECOME DEATH!" Okuu, which would be an excellent twist in this art style and story style.

Also...Okuu doesn't know what a furnace is? She works them every day...

Maybe he's delaying so he can practice how to draw badass Okuu?
