ee ja nai ka

ええじゃないか

"Ee ja nai ka" was a protest movement that took place in Japan around 1867-1868, at the end of the Edo Period. These protests often involved dancing and celebrations and went on until the beginning of the Meiji Restoration. "Ee ja nai ka" can be translated as "Why the heck not".
