gacha (game mechanic)
A gameplay mechanic in which an in-game currency (either free or paid) is used to obtain randomized items or characters from a "gacha banner", similar to the gashapon random toy vending machine.
Gacha mechanics are particularly popular in free-to-play games, which has spawned an entire genre of gacha games. Players often have a daily limit of free pulls they can make, with the ability to purchase more pulls with real world money.
Use this tag for images referencing gacha-style gameplay mechanics, such as attempting to roll certain characters, using in-game currencies, etc. See gashapon for the physical vending machines or their capsules.
