imminent death
When someone is about to be killed, such as by murder, suicide, or execution, but they're not in the process of actively dying or on the verge of death.
In other words, they are not mortally injured; if they were removed from the situation, they would be fine. See dying if they're already mortally wounded and they are about to die.
