little blue whale (kancolle)

サムの鯨

The little whale that usually accompanies Samuel B. Roberts in Kantai Collection. A whale of indeterminate species (most probably a blue whale) with a cross scar usually found near its left eye. It officially has not been given a name.

This whale is a reference to the whale that the historical USS Samuel B. Roberts collided in 1944, damaging the propeller shaft and causing the historical destroyer to go back to Norfolk, Virginia for repairs. Historical reports did not elaborate on the species of whale.
