An American crime drama created by Anthony Yerkovich and produced by Michael Mann that aired on NBC from 1984 to 1989 for over five seasons.
The series follows Don Johnson as James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, two undercover Miami police detectives as they solve and fight crime in Miami. Many of the cases the duo faced were based on real life crimes including drug smuggling, prostitution, gang wars between different crime groups like the Yakuza and Mafia, crimes by refugees after escaping their country to the US and police corruption.
The series was a massive hit with many hit songs, cars and fashion on the show influencing the 1980s. Michael Mann would later direct a modern movie remake of Miami Vice in 2006.
