A medium-sized parrot which usually is a vibrant green color with a distinct black chinstrap and red beak. Captive populations have multiple mutations including blue, violet and yellow, any of which may lack or have a faded chinstrap.

Native to Africa & South Asia, this parakeet is an introduced feral to many regions including Japan.
