salpingectomy
Salpingectomy is the surgical removal of the fallopian tubes. After a salpingectomy, a woman will not be able to conceive naturally because sperm would not be able to reach and fertilize an egg due to the preventing barrier if the tubes are cut or removed and would require IVF if pregnancy is desired. Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus and cervix) and oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) may be surgically performed as well. It is a form of permanent sterilization.
It is the female equivalent of a vasectomy.
