street fighter ii (series)

The second Street Fighter game released by Capcom in 1991.

The game is a drastic improvement over Street Fighter I, featuring larger cast of playable fighters along with pioneering various mechanics that became a staple of the fighting games today. It still remains one of the most popular games of the series, both for the casual and competitive scene.

Due to its success, a series of updated versions were released with additional features and characters. These included Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo (with updated versions since being based on Super Turbo, ala Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers).
