type 97 lmg
The Type 97 is a Japanese World War II-era gas-operated medium machine gun, chambered in 7.7×58mm Arisaka round. It was used by infantry, and also designed to be mounted in tanks as well as other armored vehicles.
Its design is a modification based on captured ZB-26 captured by Japanese forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Type 97 features a top-mounted magazine, a detachable buttstock with curved end which length can be adjusted by screwing in and out, cooling fins on the barrel, a rubber eye pad attached on the rear sight, a smaller pistol grip, a scope mount and sometimes a bulky optional barrel jacket.
