And what are those laws? Because form the looks of all the doujins I've seen, they tend to do everything imaginable to these characters. Sometimes i wonder if half the porn doujins are even legal?

I hope this scroll reminded ZUN that there are many characters deserving at least another in-game appearance before they are completely lost into oblivion (Rumia, Flandre, Letty, Chen, Ran and most people from IN cast for example).

I hope he brings back the pc-98 characters too! That'd be amazing.

I find it rather clever that while the characters from DDC Stage 4 onward are absent, they're still represented by objects in the background on the far left end of the image.

He's not.

He's said before he doesn't like it, nor the fact that the doujin community is so filled with porn in general. He just knows how the internet works and that there's not much he can do about it.

Which is exactly why it would have been great if the artists present on this scroll were artists that don't do R-18. In my opinion, at least... or at least, stuff that's a little more tasteful than Ragathol's works..

I don't think there is anything wrong with people using their talent to do what they want. To be able to draw R-18 is alot harder then just...well, drawing. I'm sure it also takes a bit of courage to actually do it, since its probably not that easy going around showing people your new "art" offline. For me, being able to make (good) R-18 images is the high level of being an artist.
Also note that not everybody can make good R-18. We can see millions of those poorly drawn shitting dick-tit images over at Pixiv and rather then contributing it's just fucking disgusting (although I guess there are people who might disagree but I digress).

Besides; opinions, opinions. We all have artists we despise I hate giselebon with a passion because his works piss me off and make me sick but I don't think it would be right to say they shouldn't be or do something.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying, and I believe that artists are allowed to draw what they want; it's just that, personally, knowing how ZUN has stated his dislike for all the R-18 done about Touhou before, it comes off to me as a bit of a slap in the fact that they would have artists such as the one I mentioned to work on this. I may have expressed myself poorly in my initial comment, but there are a few artists I've seen that draw exquisite artistic nude pictures (looking at you, ke-ta), which is the kind of things I was referring to when I mentioned the more "tasteful" stuff, as opposed to.. well, you get the point.

Do the bowl, mirror, drum, and other instruments behind the DDC demo characters represent Sukuna, Seija (mirrors basically flip things in the same image), Raiko, and the other Tsukumogamis? Or is that just an insane coincidence?

The former.

There wasn't enough time between the release of DDC and Zun's trip to Atlanta for the artists to draw them properly, so symbolic stand-ins were used.
