What are the ways to become a builder?

Posted under General

I want access to gold account stuff and heard one way was through becoming a builder due to payment being unavailable. Im having trouble finding information on this due to normally being a lurker on this site though.

help:users has a small snippet at the very bottom about it. Uploading a lot of posts that get approved, making a lot of tag gardening, and translating notes & commentaries are three important things you can in Danbooru that are roads to Builder.

help:users snip

When i clicked the edit button on a post, nothing happened. Im on mobile though and it said it needed to open something in a new window. Can i only do tag gardening(im assuming through editing) on a non mobile device?

Edit:tried again with a different post and it worked

does anybody know about how much/how long it takes? I really want to try helping out

I got it in about 2-3 months after I started regularly tagging. Some people have said it took them longer. Probably depends on the quality of contributions and individual speed.

Hi there, quick follow up question since I planned to contribute mostly by tagging as well: how many tag edits did you make roughly before getting the builder tag?
A ball park estimate would be enough, simply out of curiousity; I know that it won't have much practical use since quality obviously will matter.

Thank you in advance!

Probably around 20k? Not sure exactly, I did it mostly on my breaks at work.

Personally what I would used to do was search for a tag that interested me or a copyright I like and order them by posts with the least amount of tags.

Example:

persona tagcount:<20 order:tagcount_asc

Most of theses posts are missing very basic things like shirt color, hair color, actions, ect and are easy to quickly bring up to at least 20 tags.

Thank you a lot for the number estimate and for the advise! Both are very helpful (especially the advice about how you went about finding pictures that were missing tags, thats super useful!)

For me, I was around 12,600 or so edits by the time I got builder status. I also voted in forum posts, so that might've helped out a bit.

I had seen, a "member" with 800 upload with few deleted post. How much actually post someone need to upload before get upgrade?

I got it at 600, many others get it between 600 and 800. YMMV based on quality of uploads, tagging, and other behavior and contributions. There's only really one person who does promotions so sometimes people might be missed for a while.

For reference, I got promoted at about 900~ ish with about 10 deletions and wiki edits here and there, but from personal observation it seems to depend on if you've done enough of anything to be noticed by the admins, plus promotions usually come in waves.

I reccomend find artists on pixiv/twitter with high quality stuff from copyrights you are fan of and are therefore more motivated to upload/post. there are many great artists for even the most popular IPs that don't have many/any posts on danbooru

I'm back with new question. How much someone need to contribute in this site to become approver?

Same as Contributor but with more good uploads with very few deletion and pretty much stay active on this site.
