Do uploading Hard-Translated Doujins are really illegal?

Posted under General

I manage to find all the parts of this doujin (post #618084), but the reason I did not upload it was hard-translated in English, and I manage to come stumble from before issue such as this post #826000 plus this one post #334661 (read the comments) and then I come encounter this pool #2723 that which is a hard-translated doujin, also I read the previous forum (forum #11423) and lastly some "few" originals for post #618084 (Originally Japanese Texts) are have been already uploaded, but the rest was not much.

So I need a straight answer before I make my move, can I upload a hard translated doujin that some of the original pages are uploaded but the rest wasn't?

PS. Don't worry it has good resolution so there is nothing to fear about the quality.

"manage to find" implies that you put some effort into it. Given that you almost certainly just downloaded the archive from Gensokyo.org, that is not the phrase I would use.

What's more, you seem to have overlooked the credits at the end of said archive, which would have pointed you towards http://voile.gensokyo.org, where the raws for all comics released at Gensokyo.org reside, including this one.

Now that I've given you that, though, I would strongly encourage you not to post it on Danbooru. I have no policy argument for you, and it's actually a pretty hypocritical stance for me to take, but I think Danbooru is busy enough with just web-only comics, and that the last thing we need is to butt into Voile's business with scanned comics. Just post a link in the comments of post #618084 and everyone who wants it will be able to get it.

But hey, my views do not represent those of Danbooru, Inc. or its affiliates. If you need a post count boost, by all means, go nuts.

Alright, as you said so, I will not do it instead I'll give the link... I don't care about boosting some of my uploads or anything, just want to share some good stories.

But if I could find the original Japanese Text, can I upload that one?

No. Dammit.

We aren't a manga site. There is an entire site devoted to translated Touhou doujins, we don't need to duplicate their work.

I already understand for those hard-translated doujins (besides I don't like them that much) but what about the untranslated original works, I don't mean to angry you and you still have my respect, but I'll ask you this question, can I upload the untranslated raws? (if that thing is called).

In general, no, you shouldn't. Full-length scanned stories are way outside the scope of danbooru. A possible exception would be very short stories of exceptional value (for instance exceptionally well-drawn, unusually good yet short story, or being widely referenced in fanart we see uploaded), but that'd have to be really worth it. If you need to ask, the answer is almost certainly "no".

There does seem to be a loophole. I remember asking JXH if I could upload the non-sample portion of a comic and getting a definite no but a contributor ended up uploading the whole thing anyways since he doesn't have to go through the moderation queue

jxh2154's stance regarding this

Which I agreed to. With some of the pixiv artists' growing awareness of this site, I'm concerned with what they'll think when they see those scanlations around here.
