There's no way to get Gold right now, but you can still get Builder, which has the benefits of Gold and more. There are other ways to reach it besides uploading. Many earlier posts in this thread discuss it in more detail. This topic is basically pulling double duty as an unofficial "How do I get Builder" thread.

The problem with contributing to reach Builder status is that without premium member perks the site user experience is so unenjoyable that it doesn't really make me want to contribute.

Maybe it would be nice if you could introduce a membership tier that gives you tag searches and seeing uoooh content without the extra technical permissions of a Builder, and it could have a more approachable barrier to entry.

I were hopping between rating:e sites "premium" pages, and saw they use other more permissive providers like probiller and spred (the later even acceps instant-payments like Pix in Brazil). Isn't those providers suitable for danbooru even being used by well... Y'know

absolutely insane to me that gold upgrades have been disabled for so long. There are hundreds of people willing to pay for a service and the issue is finding a payment processor that'll host you? This is literally free money. Besides, the user experience on the site is so limited without gold I honestly couldn't care about contributing till I'm given the Builder status. If you can't find a payment processor, maybe stop gatekeeping half of the sites useful features/content behind a paywall you can't buy.

I mean, if some of y’all don’t care too much for any level of content control and just want to see uoooh pics, Gelbooru is only a few letter changes on the browser bar away. It’s actually how I checked whether such kind of posts were already uploaded to this place before I got builder status.

And yet it seems even with the user experience being limited people like you are still here and using the site. You aren't entitled to anything, it's an archive if you don't feel like building it that's fine, but then you can't complain about not being granted full access. Though I agree it's disheartening to be re-directed to buy Gold when it's unavailable.

For what it's worth I managed builder in a few months and I didn't find the site nearly as limited before that when I learned how to do searches like order: if you're looking for an image you already know exists on danbooru but can't find because of limited tags SauceNAO is a good way to locate it quickly.

Sure, I'm not entitled to anything, however, the website actively markets Gold accounts as if they were still a thing. When you search banned terms, you're told to upgrade to a Gold account. On the upgrade page, everything still exists as if it was something you could buy, aside from the upgrade button not working. Hell, the page doesn't even tell you it's down, you have to figure it out yourself and navigate to this form to understand what's going on. I could forgive them if this was a new issue they were actively working on fixing, but Gold accounts have been unattainable for over a year and they're clearly not coming back anytime soon. If the Gold account language was removed and replaced with Builder, I'd have no complaints, however, they wave an easy and convenient solution right in front of my face only to rip it away, I have every right to complain.

What's wrong with CashApp or something? You'd think this problem would be solved by now...

Or just use the same payment thing that Zoox18 uses? That content is pretty gnarly, they should allow you guys to use it.

Trust me as a gold user it really hasnt made the site experience all that much better these days. Same disorganized catalog with repetitive images splayed ouy across it (Pixiv groups similar images under one header image to cut down on this) and frankly just bad R-18 looped animation artwork in the hot tabs most days. The sites staff dont like to hear people "complain" but they dont do anything to make the user experience any better like said. If its good enough for them thats all that seems to matter. I've come to suspect its just run by a lot of unserious channer types, while Pixiv is a proper business with some degree of accountability at least.

the thing from gold/builder that i really only want is the saved searches limit. I like to favorite some artists and i only see updated posts from those artists alone. I looked around and pixiv and danbooru are really the only one with this function. Is there an alternative to this on any other site or am i stuck here waiting for gold until i die?
