Again thanks for the advice! :) Think I'll start uploading soon.

You're welcome! Just remember that Builders are always here to help. If you feel confused, we don't bite! (Most of us, anyways :P)

I wish you the best in your endeavors!

Hi, I was wondering, how does posts getting approved work? I'm trying to upload my own illustrations on site but they never get approved and I don't get why... :/

Upon uploading posts remain pending (in queue) for 3 days during which time they're easily viewable by approvers, and if one of them likes the image enough they'll approve it. If this doesnt happen within the 3 days it gets automatically marked as deleted (but is still viewable), after which you can optionally appeal it once if you think it got overlooked (this does happen quite often), and doing so will put it back in the queue for another 3 days.

Your art is really bad for danbooru standards.

They ain't even bad, the issue is most likely that he uploads them from directly from his hard drive. If he were to upload them to Twitter or Pixiv first and then upload them to Danbooru and link said Twitter/Pixiv post as a source they would most likely be approved.

so ... how many years is this issue ongoing,

if the site admins are unwilling, to change anything about these
if they choos, to actively discriminate against any new user, by default content locking stuff

then, they shouldn't hide behind a "oh, but, but" ... but instead clearly say, that they don't give a crap about their newer users ...

You can access Gold benefits by becoming a Builder. Reference the start of this thread for tips how. You'll get your content and help the site.

No doubt the site owner isn't happy about paying for everything themselves for over a year. If they didn't care about new users they could take the site private and/or lock account creation. Please be patient.

"Just become a builder" yeah, no. Lmao

I don't think there's anything wrong with how the Builder is distributed, but telling someone to basically "Just upload a 1000 arts and pray you won't get some of them deleted!" is not a solution either. Some people are here to build, some are to just browse AND THAT'S FINE. It's a choice everyone can make for themselves. The problem is that before there was an alternative. You don't wanna work and make the site better? Alright, then at least pay for and make things easier for the owner/host. That's gone now. The only way to get EVEN slight change like more tags in the search bar is to work ur ass for half a year (or even more lol) which is something that just not everyone has time to do. And again, that's completely fine, just give people an alternative to that.

I also just hate the "please be patient" argument, like bro this thread is 1,5 years old. Whether it's easy or hard to resolve this issue is not for me to say, because I am not qualified to say that. But there is no way there isn't even an alternative for the payment system? Patreon? Ko-fi? Anything man, really anything.

I'm completely agreeing with what you are saying here, I think thats a fair assessment and I agree that while the situation isn't anybodys fault (in the community), that trivialising it isn't a solution either.

I just want to add, the thing that keeps me from "just becoming a builder" is that the scope in which a user is able to contribute and obtain the builder status as a result is rather limited.
If I could somehow get the builder status by helping to properly tag everything, awesome. I enjoy doing that, immensly. The hunt for missing tags, learning how things are weighed and categorized here, the thrill of trying to figure out if something is an OC or from an existing property...it's not for everyone but I really enjoy it, unlike looking up and uploading hundreds of pictures.
But according to the feedback I got to my question regarding the matter, its very unlikely to get builder status by helping to tag. And don't get me wrong I understand why that is how it is and it makes perfect sense to me. But it's kinda disappointing to me that the way I WANT to contribute to the site will probably never result in obtaining the builder status.

That being said its also, in my opinion, not unproblematic for the sites ecosystem if the main thing thats being rewarded is uploading, not tagging. Because thats encouraging people to just upload more and more things. And while there is, in my opinion, a very effective approval and quality control system in place that prevents this site from being flooded by low effort pictures, this still causes another problem.
At a certain point, what actually makes pictures available to the end user is the tagging, not the uploading. Because all the pictures in the world won't help you if you can't FIND something. And sadly, most people seem to be more interested in uploading the maximum number of pictures and not so much in properly tagging them. Which makes sense to me honestly if we look at what we as a community reward and what not.

Again, thats NOT criticism, there are very good reasons why the system works how it works, but I'm seeing this as an unfortunate side effect, and I thinks its amplified by the situation of the gold status not being optainable.

Edit: Spelling

Whoever told you you can't get promoted through tagging was wrong. I promote for any kind of contribution to this site, including uploading, tagging, submitting bulk update requests, translating posts, creating artist tags or tag wikis, or contributing to forum posts. People who are promoted just for tagging are simply a minority because most of them eventually end up uploading, which makes their promotion come faster, but I have promoted several users in the past whose sole contribution was adding tags to other users' uploads.

Check the User Feedbacks page and look for Builder level promotions. You don't need to upload at all to be promoted, everything you do to help the site is a contribution. Do what you like to do, maybe be active in the forums and you might be noticed.

I agree with part of what you've said, I even have favgroups and saved searches for that, so you'd help a lot.

EDIT: Oh well, sniped.

Oh, thank you so much for this clearification! :) That really lifts my spirits and motivates me to go back to contributing in my own way.

To be fair, the person who gave me info (just a few comments back) phrased this not as being impossible, but as incredible unlikely. Which I interpreted as "theoretically possible, but won't be happening".

I personally don't mind for it to take a longer time to get (possibly) promoted to builder status. I rather get it by doing something that I enjoy and that I'm somewhat good at, even if it takes a while.

I know that nonamethanks was faster than you, but I still appreciate you trying to help out! :) and in the end you've corrected my misconception just as well.

Glad you see my point, thanks for the help and thank you for the encouragement! :)
