Well if you read the tread you would know negative feedback does not disqualified you from promotion. So my question still stands.

"Doesn't disqualify" doesn't mean "aren't taken into account." I don't know why that user hasn't gotten promoted or how the admins determine when a user is eligible, but I do know they have a history of toxic behavior and making work for other users, which might be holding them back.

More importantly, I really don't understand why people keep clapping back against advice on how to get promoted with "but this random user hasn't gotten promoted!" Yeah, and? That doesn't make anything I said wrong. Contribute to the site and don't make more work for other users and you'll eventually get promoted.

Because the users clapping back are all the same person.

Incidentally, uploading illegal content sounds like a pretty good way to permanently lock yourself out of being able to keep an account here, let alone get promoted.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Everytime some rando day 1 account asks that question it's a sockpuppet, just didn't want to say it.

What does Favorite Groups and Max Search duration function do?

Quoting help:favorite groups: "Favorite groups are personal collections of posts. They're like tags or pools, except they belong to you. You can use them to organize your favorite posts, save comics you plan to read or translate, to create your own private tags, or just to collect posts as you see fit." I use them to save posts I want to work on some way, for example.

The max search timeout is how long it can take to find posts under your search before the search is canceled. It usually happens with inefficient and complex searches and when you're hundreds of pages into a search.

I don't really care about censored tags, i can just find it elsewhere where it has no such restrictions (like Gel-), but i want to be able to search more than two tags at once.

Danbooru has been a great site for searching the right image you want, but locking a feature behind a paywall/grind just feels so restrictive.

I would actually second that. Don't get me wrong, when you actually are able to buy the upgrade, restricting the number of search terms for non-paying users is fair. But since we really can't buy it, it only hurts the sites functionality, IMHO. Also, it limits the ability of participating users to correct tags etc. efficiently. If I would have one (1) more tag available, than there would lots of tags I could help gardening quite effectively. Think of all the tags that are implied by a combination of other tags (I know you guys have an automatic system for that, but I don't think it's surprising to anyone when I say that doesn't cover everything).

One thing to keep in mind is that if we increase the tag limit, it will likely need to be permanent. Users would likely have a stronger reaction to losing a tag than gaining one, so going from two to three, then back to two after the upgrade is made available again, wouldn't be a good idea.

No need to give it to all members. Unlock 3-tag searches after 100 uploads or 1000 tag edits or something.

I think thats a fair argument Blank_User, and definitely something worth to consider.
But on the other hand, I wonder if there would be any drawbacks to just keep the free search term limit at 3 tags, even when the Gold Account does come back online one day. After all you are still getting lots of different benefits from a Gold Account, and unlimited tags (?) still beats 3 tags.

While I see your point, that would effectively create a new account level or something akin of it, so I don't think thats so practical unless you want to actually follow through with that.

I have to strongly agree with this sentiment (again).

I can't even run a search as simple as ordfav:slow.motion.shadow touhou absurdres because it counts as three tags. Same for touhou absurdres -comic to filter out the pages of manga, or something like 1girl scenery night if I were trying to find an image I can only vaguely remember.

Personally, a middle rank like "power user" or "silver" that's straightforward to unlock after a reasonable number of approved contributions sounds good. Let the purple ranks be for people who are passionate about actively contributing; I just want to be able to actually find content efficiently.

I admit I'm warming up on the idea of a middle rank with a three search tag limit.

And I agree with the examples you are giving - two tags is just not enough to find anything. Especially when negative/excluded tags count towards the tag limit (some other sites are actually excluding them from the tag limit).

And here I was wondering where the option for platinum went because I wanted to upgrade again for unlimited tags. Hopefully it'll come back at some point but if gold is having issues then I guess I'll be waiting a while.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they increased gold's benefits and then retired platinum upgrades completely shortly before the payment system issue began. I doubt it'll ever be back since it seems to be giveaway-only now. I don't really remember why.

Nowadays the only realistic option to get unlimited tag searches is to contribute enough to get builder or above, which is... well, a lot more than $40 worth of work, but there's little use complaining about it.

Platinum users were given unlimited tags only after upgrading to platinum was disabled, you could never pay for unlimited tags.

Maybe I'm mistaken but I think it was 20 before. Which is effectively unlimited. I don't see myself ever needing to get more specific than that. Either way, the option for people willing to help fund the site would be nice. I'm sure plenty of people in every user group that could be upgraded are waiting with cash in hand. In any case I'll be patiently waiting for the day it becomes available again assuming it ever does.
