I think it only gets into the uneasy territory when artists re-enact history with the Kanmusu. Most are happy with depicting current, in-game life, having little bearing on the history. This artist seems to enjoy setting the Kanmusu in historical events, though.

6th Generation 3rd Fleet Combined Fleet Carrier Task Force

The New 1st Carrier Division

This is the 6th Generation Third Fleet!!

6th Generation 3rd Fleet Formed on July 14th, Showa 17. So the 5th generation 3rd Fleet that existed during the beginning of the war have their name changed on March 10th.

[1st Carrier Division] Continuing the will of Akagi and the others are Shoukaku, Zuikaku and Zuihou. Zuikaku and Zuihou sank in Leyte Gulf. Until the 3rd Fleet's disbanding, they are always together.

[8th Cruiser Division] Because of their extensive aviation equipment, they have been accompanying the carrier task force ever since Akagi's era as escort. Of course, they are also active under Zuikaku's team.

The 3rd Fleet is a new carrier task force formed by the Navy after the loss of four carriers in the Battle of Midway. Together with the 2nd Fleet, they participate in many naval battle as Japan's main force. But in the end, to let the 2nd Fleet attack Leyte Gulf, the 3rd Fleet is deployed as bait. They lose four carriers and light carriers and are then disbanded. The picture below is the members at the time the group was formed.

[11th Battleship Division] During Akagi's era, this division borrowed battleships and cruisers according to the mission's need. But Shoukaku and the others decided to pull the Kongou-class Kirishima and Hiei from the 3rd Battleship Division and employed them as escort for the 3rd Fleet.

[Houshou] She's placed in the 3rd Fleet independent from any division and is used as training ship. An old girl.

[2nd Carrier Division] Consisted of Junyou, Hiyou and Ryuujou. By the time the 3rd Fleet is formed, Hiyou is still not completed, so she joins on July 31st.

4th Destroyer Division Arashi, Hagikaze, Nowaki, Maikaze

10th Cruiser Division Flagship: Nagara

16th Destroyer Division Hatsukaze, Yukikaze, Amatsukaze, Tokitsukaze

10th Destroyer Division Akigumo, Yuugumo, Makigumo, Kazagumo

17th Destroyer Division Urakaze, Isokaze, Tanikaze, Hamakaze

[10th Cruiser Division] This team has been escorting the 1st Carrier Division ever since Akagi's era. They continued this role into the 3rd Fleet. But during Leyte, they're split up, and all but the 61st Destroyer Division are not operating with the task force. Yukikaze, Hamakaze and the others can't witness the carriers' last moments. 61st Destroyer Division is formed after the Guadalcanal conflict. During the Battle of Phillipine Sea it's composed of Akizuki, Suzutsuki, Hatsuzuki and Wakatsuki

[7th Cruiser Division] Originally composed of the four Mogami sisters, but Mikuma is lost in Midway, while Mogami is moderately damaged and is undergoing a large remodelling during the formation of the 3rd Fleet. She later operates as aviation cruiser. In the later stage of the war when situation became worse, Tone and Chikuma joined them.
