assault suits valken

重装機兵ヴァルケン

Assault Suits Valken (重装機兵ヴァルケン Jūsō Kihei Varuken), released in the U.S.A. as Cybernator, is a military science fiction side-scrolling mecha action video game developed by Masaya in 1992 for the Super Famicom Japanese home console and also for the Super Nintendo western console.

Valken is set in the far future and follows the adventures of a military mecha pilot during a devastating world conflict.

It is the second game in the Assault Suits Series. Valken is actually an indirect prequel/spin-off to the first game in the series, Assault Suit Leynos, as Valken's plot takes place a whole 10 years before the events of Leynos.

A sequel called Assault Suits Valken 2 was also released in 1999 for the PlayStation 1 console only in Japan. The events of this game occur 30 years after the first Valken game and 20 years after the original Leynos.

The original Valken has since been re-released on the Wii as a Virtual Console product in Japan. A HD remake of the first game with new graphics has been also released for the PlayStation 2 console in Japan, Europe and Australia in 2004.
