solarpunk
A science fiction genre and art/social movement based around sustainability, eco-friendliness, and optimism, with "solar" coming from solar energy.
Depictions of the genre often feature the coexistence of futuristic technology and nature, and the use of technology to aid nature. It serves as a foil/contrast to the Cyberpunk movement, focusing primarily on the image of a utopia rather than a dystopia.
Futuristic cities full of plant life, solar panels and wind turbines, influence from Bohemian aesthetics, glass, natural colors, sunflowers, cultural diversity, and recycling are all common themes and imagery in the genre.
Characters in solarpunk settings are often depicted wearing loose-fitting work clothing in earthy tones and/or white, often with lots of straps or buckles. Elements of the hazmat suit are sometimes incorporated, as are gas masks and respirators, gloves, and boots. Flowy, patterned fabric is also common, as is influence from techwear shape-wise.
