[discussion] nuking remodel_(kantai_collection) into separate character tags

The bulk update request #8497 (forum #203532) has been approved by @nonamethanks.

Seems the BUR got stuck. Will have to wait for evazion to fix it before approving the implications.

Pardon me for not following this thread... but how about original remodels? How can we tag those differently as a result of this BUR?

original remodel (kantai collection) + character name. This thread is only for nuking remodel (kantai collection), not the original remodel tag.

I missed four characters that also had second remodels in the first two BURs, so I'm adding them here to complete those solo posts that would be changed. I'm also adding the Un'you Kai Ni tags manually because for some reason, the change didn't take effect. The same also happened with Taiyou.

First time using this feature so I hope that this is formatted properly. Anyway, if we are really doing this there probably should be tags for Musashi K2, Zuikaku K2, Suzuya K2, Ooi K2, Kitakami K2, Zuihou K2, Murasame K2, Makigumo K2, Takanami K2, Shiratsuyu K2, Shikinami K2, Asashio K2, Chitose K2, and Chiyoda K2.

Those characters are ones with either multiple significantly different kai 2 forms or where the remodel tag is used on their kai forms. Was there any consensus on what to do with these?

Lets have a breakdown:
Musashi - remodel tag is only used on handful of non-K2 posts which can be manually culled
Zuikaku - Shoukaku Kai Ni is a tag even though she too has 2 different remodeled forms with visual differences between them
Suzuya&Kumano - same as above but this time the visual differences are limited to rigging
Zuihou - see Zuikaku
Chitose&Chiyoda - plain old K2s but with plenty of Kai forms before that, based on a quick look remodel only appears to have been used with K2 forms
Ooi&Kitakami - only seem to have handful of posts that use remodel tag for their Kai forms
Asashio - two K2 forms, but if that didn't stop Shoukaku Kai Ni from being a thing then why should it be any different with Asashio?
Murasame&Shiratsuyu - single K2 form just like Yuudachi and Shigure who have Yuudachi Kai Ni and Shigure Kai Ni for their remodels
Makigumo&Takanami - single K2 form just like Yuugumo and Naganami who have Yuugumo Kai Ni and Naganami Kai Ni for their remodels
Shikinami - single K2 form just like Ayanami who has Ayanami Kai Ni tag for her remodel

To be fair, I had intended to leave out Ooi, Kitakami, Chitose, Chiyoda, Zuikaku, and Zuihou for last because they posed some problems with regards to their aesthetic changes at or prior to kai ni. The last two, in particular, present challenges on identification because Zuihou/Zuikaku's green camouflage are present not just in kai ni, but also in kai form.

Case in point, compare post #1624433 (kai) with post #3027467 (kai ni, general-purpose CVL) on Zuihou. Only the latter is identified as kai ni but post #3027469 (kai ni B, basically anti-sub escort carrier version) may be so easily mistaken for her base form, the difference is that there's no loin plate at base form.

Zuikaku poses the same issues too, but hers can be more easily identifiable by the steel flight deck (post #2163202), but won't be an easy task without it.

In the end, the best solution once it's approved is to garden and filter the tags manually.

Zuikaku K2 should be relatively easy to identify from her base form based on number tasuki/muneate straps present: the base&Kai only have 1 while both K2s have 2 of them. This difference probably should be mentioned on her wiki page. Though due to how similar her non-K2 and K2 forms are there seems to be at least couple pics that shows her in amalgam state that includes elements from both non-K2 and K2 forms.

Actually, no one should even be adding the remodel tag on new posts anymore. It's already a challenge to garden all the kai ni posts and their associated chartags, especially if you're backtracking up to 7 years' worth of content.
This needs to be put up on display (or at the very least, "salt" the tag to prevent further applications like what Wikipedia does for deleted entries that no longer need to be restored.)

(sorry I just had to say this since it may still not be clear: we're nuking/retiring the remodel tag and moving them to their separate chartags, while all new entries should not carry the remodel tag as it is being retired.)

Curious, since touken ranbu follows the same model with the kiwame tag, but only has a mere 518 posts at this moment, would it actually be worth going through the rigamarole of using BURs to remove it and create new char tags, or could it be gardened by someone with enough knowledge? I'd go through it myself but my knowledge of the series is relatively limited.

It's fine to do it by hand.

Forgot that Ryuuhou and Conte di Cavour also have second remodels too so going to leave this here as an addition. I'm guessing the Taiyou update failed to parse because they didn't have the Kasuga Maru chartag added on left so I added Taigei with Ryuuhou for good measure.
Also adding Amagiri's kai ni implication to the main Amagiri chartag in light of yesterday's reveal of Amagiri kai ni.

I've already manually gardened the Ryuuhou Kai Ni tag so this is merely a formality. Same goes for Conte even though someone else manually gardened it.
Also to the one whose BUR is still pending, please remove Sazanami from the update and implication. She doesn't have a kai ni yet and the one you may be referring to (post #2470743) is not a kai ni, it's an update to her kai CG.
