Pointless Pools

Most people don't know how to use Source searches. I didn't know it existed until just now

If anything a better solution is a new tag Unknown_Twilight_Frontier_Artist and removal of the pool

If they shouldn't have been approved then you should flag them for removal. Even though they are valid child/parent relationship. I say Remove pool maintain parent/child.

It might be preferable to simply stop responding as S1eth suggested if you don't have a pointless pool or two you'd like to bring up.

I'm not sure what the context of this post was but it's nonsense, especially if he's referring to the super old suggestion that this is how member-level users should be uploading to check a project. That suggestion was only in the context of testing an art's quality not limiting the number of variations. Pretty much nobody has a problem with uploading full sets of well-drawn art so suggesting that someone shouldn't upload images just because they're variations is ridiculous.

I'm not sure I agree. I wouldn't personally go through the trouble of uploading so many variations, but if there's a user who does want to and a Janitor who feels like approving it, what's the issue?

Oh that thread was about a bunch of images that had mediocre artwork before being a thousand variations and a thread with no replies I wouldn't cite that as precedent.

Perhaps it's a good idea that the next time someone wants to make a pool, it should be discussed somewhere first on whether or not that pool is a good idea? That way, we can (hopefully) prevent there from being too many pointless pools.

I definitely wasn't implying it was a rule or anything, just stating that it's generally the most sensible thing to do. It's the way game cgs are usually handled too.

I have no idea why that post is being cited anyway because the uploader did exactly that. The pixiv post has 27 variations and he only uploaded four of them.

Because I messaged him and asked him not to upload all 27 images, because he was going to.
Anyway, I won't continue this discussion (and spam) in this thread, since this isn't what it's for.

I think this is a good idea. (Only for collection pools, of course - series pools for comics and such aren't debatable.)

The question is whether the users who are making pointless pools would care, or if they would just continue to make these pools as they do now.

Adequately covered by combining pool #1636 (Fund it!) + pool #1706 (Hilarious in Hindsight); i.e. pool:1636 pool:1706.

"Hilarious in Hindsight" states it is for "Posts that, due to more recent events, make them funnier than they originally were." That would indicate that something depicted has to be funny or made funnier due to the news, but just because a project went from being fictional (want it funded) to existing (something funded) doesn't necessarily mean that it becoming a reality makes it funny.

post #1306490 is a drawing of a fictional Girls und Panzer model tank kit, I'm sure someone could have tossed this into the "Fund it!" pool. An actual model of this tank with the Girls und Panzer decals was released, so it was "funded" but I'm not sure it would qualify for "Hilarious in Hindsight."

pool #7151 - Touhou - Momiji's Awesome Shield

The Touhou favoritism is strong in this site... People might as well create "Awesome <insert something here>" pools for every fictional character out there and not only those from this series...
